Just came upon this recent article from UK's "Far Out" magazine: " Six Definitive Films: A Beginner's Guide to Joan Crawford" p.s. The six films in the article are: The Unknown, The Women, Mildred Pierce, Sudden Fear, Johnny Guitar, Baby Jane. Personally, I guess "The Unknown" gave/gives Joan some artsy cache, but if I had to list six for beginners, I'd probably replace it with "Dancing Lady." Your own six choices for Joan beginners?

I'd maybe replace The Unknown with Our Dancing Daughters if a beginner wanted to see Joan in her earliest days, since it's a great movie and it's the one that made her a star.
I think Grand Hotel should be in there but I'm not sure what I would replace it with.
