As part of my resolution to watch more of Joan's later films, I'm starting with Harriet Craig. It's only 94 minutes long, perfect for my short attention span, and seems to be highly regarded. 30 minutes in, I have to say, Joanie is a bit of a nag!

Breaks up the romance of her cousin/lackie? Undoes her hubby's promotion?
Oh, Joanie, bad Joanie!

JC made a quick transition there from worry wart wife to harpy extraordinaire! Am trying to think of when I've seen Joan play such an unsympathetic character. Crystal Allen? She was so over the top in The Women it was delicious! Here, she's just mean and vindictive. I think I would have liked the movie more if they had given a little more insight into why she was so distrustful of men earlier in the film. I did think the supporting cast was quite good. I guess I don't like seeing my Joanie playing the baddie.

I really like Joan as Harriet Craig. Different from Crystal Allen. They both want to do what’s best for them. I see Joan playing the part of Crystal as acting, but some of Joan playing the part of Harriet could be taken as Joan’s real life off the movie set. I give both films two thumbs up 👍👍.

From the reviews I have read on IMDB and BOE, I cannot tell if Joan plays it closer to evil Harriet Craig or the deliciously over-the-top Crystal Allen.

I also like Queen Bee. Joan is so naughty that I can’t take my eyes off her. She’s perfect for the part.

What would be the Harriet Craig sequel? Her husband gets the family life with the next door neighbor. A loving family and friends that makes everyone happy. Who does Harriet turn too? Not her mother or any other family member. What friends did she have other than society socialites? That is more of an obligation not the people you want to know your personal life. Will she ever find or intentionally seek another perspective husband to keep her in the lifestyle he’s now accustomed to? What do you think?

I love playing the "What Next?" game with my favorite movies. Let's see for HC. Hmm. Definitely, as you suggest, Walter hooks up with the young widow lady next door, adopts Danny, and they have one more kid, and Mrs. Fenwick is the godmother, who teaches the little tyke to cuss, drink and cheat at cards! Mrs. Harold returns as housekeeper, but not Lottie - she's too famous as Grandma Walton to go back to servitude! KT and her beau marry, but alas it does not work out. KT moves to NYC to become a writer. Harriet? Oh dear. She stays in the house, becomes a recluse, which is why Walter, neighbor lady, etc. move away, to Flamingo Street, the fanciest address in town! Harriet's house is the house in the neighborhood that all the kids are convinced is haunted!

I can see that too. I think that KT should stay married to her beau, but then again, she’s a smart ambitious woman that can really make her talents thrive in New York. She can find a worldly, smart, loving, fun man. Harriet stays in the house that is no longer a home. A haunted house filled with the memories of what could have been fill with love. It becomes her jail. Walter remarries the lady next door; adopts her son and then have a daughter together. Perfect 1950’s family.
