I just programmed my Joan Crawford movies. I’m so excited for my summer viewing of our Miss Joan. The only 2 movies I didn’t program are Reunion in France and Baby Jane. I’m not a John Wayne fan and I recently watched Baby Jane. Happy viewing my friends.

To quote famed treasure hunter Mel Fisher. "Today's the day! "
OK, tomorrow is the day! I'll probably stream them after the fact, but I'm excited.
Happy Joan Day everyone.

Otto Kruger has to be the most chill jilted lover in the history of cinema! Three decades later he and JC worked together in Della. Wonder if they reminisced about the good old days at MGM?
That pom pom hairdo while she and Clark are walking around the deck is not her best look. She looks much better with her hair down in the South America scenes.

Watching Possessed. 1947 version. Serious question - what does Joan see in Van Heflin? He's a dweeby engineer (I should know, I'm a scientist ). You'd think he was Clark Gable (1931 version of Possessed). Van should thank his lucky stars the Queen of Hollywood is even mildly interested in him!

You'd think he was Clark Gable (1931 version of Possessed). Van should thank his lucky stars the Queen of Hollywood is even mildly interested in him! Not to be too weird or personal, but... My first girlfriend (about 35 years ago) was an ex-con (a bank robber at age 19)---pretty low-rent, but also very sexy. We were together only about 2 years, but I quickly figured out: "I'm way too smart for her, and she's way too louche for me." That didn't stop me from obsessing over her for the next few years! Now, those are obviously not the same reasons why Joan's Louise was obsessing over the annoying, dweeby David! But, just goes to show ya: "Obsession" strikes in mysterious ways! I felt for Louise in this film---and I cringed when she threw herself at him again and again... "Have some dignity, girl!" I might have cried to my own self! I know why I was attracted to my own girlfriend---sexual exoticism; maybe the plain nurse Louise was attracted to the engineer David because he seemed intellectually exotic to her (note their listening to classical music together)... Oh, and he played hard to get--- also sometimes a turn-on of sorts.
