On my last trip to Hollywood about 4 years ago I went to visit Joan’s house at 426 N. Bristol as I always do when I’m in Hollywood. It looks like the owners sold the extra lot in the back of the house where Joan had a badminton court. I drove around the block and what use to be a private lot. Is now a new home. Can anyone confirm this? I hope it’s not true and perhaps I got the wrong house from around the block.

I just looked on Google maps and also viewed a satellite photo. It looks like Joan’s famous home on 426 N. Bristol Avenue that had the big backyard with the pool and pool house and theater house is gone. The yard was split in half and there is another home built on the other side of the block where Joan’s backyard use to be. If you have enough money to live in Brentwood and are able to find a home with a double lot, who would ever take away half of their backyard? Plus, the fact that it was Joan’s Crawford’s home where she threw parties and so many famous movie stars walked those grounds. It makes me so upset.

I'll bet a developer bought it from an owner and then split the lot to make more profit. (I can't see an actual owner doing it to their own place while they lived there.) I'm embarrassed to admit: I STILL have never been to Los Angeles! It's definitely on my Top Five bucket list of places to visit---primarily because of all the Joan-related places that I want to see there.

I hope you’ll come to Hollywood and visit all the Joan related places that is on your bucket list. I think it would be an exciting vacation for you. In fact, one day when you plan your trip to LA, let us know as far as possible in advance so we can get a bunch of our Joan fans to meet you there. We can start off with a nice brunch. Then wear our Joan Crawford shirts, hats, buttons, etc. (optional) and visit all Joan’s famous and favorite haunts from her past. As a group we can take photos for this wonderful website you’ve created for us. Everyone else will be jealous, but can enjoy our photos and stories when we post them. So, let’s plan to make your bucket list come true in a big way. You deserve it. (Unless you would rather have alone time with memories of Joan.) totally understandable.

This was Joan Crawford’s car. I have a small version of Joan’s Cadillac/Rolls Royce with a V-16 engine that was made for her. My Joan car is bigger than a hot wheels car, but smaller than a tonka truck. I’ll try to find it and post it soon. I went to The Peterson Car Museum and found her car pictured above. They have a lot of old classic cars owned by movie stars of the past. It’s on 6060 Wilshire Blvd in Hollywood. If you’re in the area it’s worth the trip.

Hey, a Joan meet-up might be an idea for 2021 once the quarantine is lifted (which sources say may be around June)! I used to think about a stay at Joan's Hotel Washington at 3927 Van Buren Place in Culver City, her first home when she arrived in Hollywood; its name was later changed to "Hotel West End"---and now it's a boutique hotel called "Palihotel": www.palisociety.com/hotels/culver-city/Probably was much cheaper back when it was un-renovated! Today, as "Pally Hotel," it's $175 per night during quarantine time.

We will have to start saving for our Joan Crawford bucket list vacation now since it may be more expensive than we thought. I wanted to stay in the Chateau Marmont , I just looked at the prices for a room. This is not the time to travel anywhere. We want to go when things are back to normal and we can smile and pose without the masks 😷. We’ll be safe. We’ll also be fun and sexy tossing our Hollywood hugs and kisses xoxo 😘 as we walk down Sunset Boulevard. Something positive to look forward to do one day. I’m sure you’ll agree we all need to have a positive outlook right now. Hang in there. I love you guys.

Well I wished I lived in the US, because if I did I would be well up for a Joan Fan Club meeting in Hollywood! I guess you'll have to all post your pictures and make me really jealous - or perhaps take me with you via a video call ?? The closest I'll get in England is going to the filming locations from Esther Costello, Berserk or Trog...

Hi jackb; It’s a deal. We’ll be happy to take you with us on our Joan Crawford Hollywood journey through FaceTime or photos, videos as long as you can post some short videos or take photos of your Joan filming locations sights across the pond for us. For now, please stay safe and healthy. It’s so nice to hear from our international Joan Crawford fan club. Keep in touch. Who knows, maybe one day we can even join you in England and visit the sights together?
