I always thought Christopher was such a cute kid. I thought Christina looked a little homely as a child. With or without the outfits Joan would dress her in. There are photos I’ve seen Christina at a Jerry Lewis telethon with Joan and they both looked fantastic. Also at Christina’s wedding I thought she looked great.

I agree david i figure there lifestyle compared to other familys at the time was ok.
i guess if joan would have gotten her own family i figure it would have been different.
i read joan was abused as a child but i dont know if its true. I don't remember where i read it. Does anyone know what books or facts there are and what happened to her. you hear opinions but they never say what they believe happened.

Hi Ketvo. I hope this helps you out with Joan’s life as a child. I found two references on this website. 1). Go to MOMMIE DEAREST and look under FACT. 2). Go to FAMILY,FRIENDS, PETS and look under JOAN’S NIECE. I also have all the books on Joan Crawford. I liked Bob Thomas book on Joan. Born Lucille Fay LeSueur, of French-Huguenot, English, Dutch, and Irish ancestry in San Antonio, Texas, she was the third and youngest child of Tennessee-born Thomas E. LeSueur. Crawford's elder siblings were sister Daisy LeSueur, who died before Lucille's birth, and brother Hal LeSueur. Thomas LeSueur abandoned the family when Lucille was ten months old. Crawford's mother married Henry J. Cassin. Crawford was reportedly unaware that Cassin, whom she referred to as "daddy", was not her biological father until her brother Hal told her the truth. Cassin allegedly began sexually abusing her when she was eleven years old, and continued until she was sent to St. Agnes Academy, a Catholic girls' school. June 1917, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, after Cassin was accused of embezzlement; although acquitted, he was blacklisted in Lawton. Following their relocation, Cassin, a Catholic, placed Crawford at St. Agnes Academy in Kansas City. When her mother and stepfather separated, she remained at school as a work student, where she spent far more time working, primarily cooking and cleaning, than studying. She later attended Rockingham Academy, also as a working student. 1922, she registered at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She attended Stephens for only a few months before withdrawing after she realized she was not prepared for college.Crawford and her schooling never formally progressed beyond primary education. Under the name Lucille LeSueur, Crawford began dancing in the choruses of traveling revues, and was spotted dancing in Detroit by producer Jacob J. Shubert. Shubert put her in the chorus line for his 1924 show, Innocent Eyes, at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway in New York City. While appearing in Innocent Eyes, Crawford met a saxophone player named James Welton. The two were allegedly married in 1924, and lived together for several months, although this supposed marriage was never mentioned in later life by Crawford. Crawford wanted additional work, and approached Loews Theaters publicist Nils Granlund. Granlund secured a position for her with singer Harry Richman's act and arranged for her to do a screen test which he sent to producer Harry Rapf in Hollywood. Rapf notified Granlund on December 24, 1924, that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) had offered Crawford a contract at $75 a week. The rest of the story is a Hollywood dream come true with a lot of hard work and having Billy Haines as one of her best friends with great advice.

Hey Ketvo. Who really knows about death? Different religions believe in different ways to contemplate what happens after someone has passed away. I just know that I personally don’t want to physically come back. We have people in our lifetime that we connect with and we should treat them with love and respect. We should cherish the times we spend with them. We should tell them how much they are loved while they are still alive. Then after they pass away we still keep them here with us on earth in our hearts and minds by their memories. So even though they are really no longer physically here on earth, they are still here in the memories we hold of them. Even though I have never met Joan Crawford, she is someone that I hold dear to my heart so I may talk to her pictures when I see them in my house. I say Good morning and Good night and when I leave and come back home I acknowledge her every day. She’s still with me in spirit. I’m still on earth and my connection with her is real. So, my friend that’s how I feel; let’s see if we can get anyone else to give us their take on this subject. We would truly love to hear from you guys.
