This is one of the few photos of Franchot Tone being photographed with Joan Crawford and not gazing at her, but looking at the camera. It’s a great photo of them together. I believe it was his idea to have Joan try radio. She may have been nervous to do a live radio.

(I'm not a huge Franchot fan; I think he had kind of a rich-boy Svengali complex, thinking he could somehow advance "lowly"(in his mind) women. As it turned out, Joan was of much higher calibre than he was; and he failed miserably with Jean Wallace and Barbara Payton...) Interesting about who's looking at whom in photos! Franchot and Al were almost always looking at Joan adoringly. Doug and Phil Terry: Almost always looking straight ahead (with Joan often gazing at Doug). p.s. This is very weird, but: I took a nap this Saturday afternoon and part of the dream was me interviewing Franchot Tone...And I couldn't think of anything to ask him!

OMG! That is too funny 😂. I guess it was a quick interview. LOL - Keep the dreams coming and keep us posted and I’ll do the same. I’m still smiling under my face mask thinking of you in your dream with Franchot. It put me in a good mood and a great way to start my work day. Thanks.

Looking good Joan. Franchot has his top hat in hand ready for their night out on the town.

Looking good Joan. Franchot has his top hat in hand ready for their night out on the town. Joan is, indeed, looking sassy! It's actually a 1937 studio Halloween party... Attachments:

I would have never guessed that was Franchot Tone in the outfit and mustache. Good find.
