Frankenstein’s wife or Dracula’s? Ursula from the Little Mermaid? Just Kidding. Hurrell did amazing photo shoots with Joan. This one looks like it was just for fun. Maybe it was for Halloween or for a scary part for a movie Joan was considering? She does look scary. Could you imagine coming home at night and turning on the light and see that coming after you?!

My immediate thought was not of "scary"! I thought she looked cool and interesting! One thing I like about the Ruth Harriet Louise photos (pre-Hurrell takeover) was that the photos were sometimes odd/arty/weird. Here, Hurrell does one of his VERY few "odd/arty/weird" shots of Joan. After this, it's all pretty much glamour.

Yes, I can see that now. Art comes in many forms. I didn’t think of this photo that way, but it is very cool and unlike the usual glamour photos that we see. I’m glad you found it and posted it. See, it gave me a new perspective of looking at art through photography. The many faces of Joan Crawford is a form of art in itself. Thanks 😊
