Cliff Robertson unpublished autobio excerpt re "Autumn"

Years ago, the "Cliff Robertson: A True Renaissance Man" website posted 19 pages of his unpublished autobiography related to his first meeting with Joan in preparation for filming 1956's "Autumn Leaves." At the time, I posted a link on BOE, but the Robertson website has since taken down the pages.

Curious about your reactions. For instance, the "big reveal" at the end...?? (I don't think anyone keeps that in a cabinet above the bed.)

I read the Cliff Robertson 19 page post on the BOE website. I thought it was great. While I was reading it, I was also picturing the whole meeting in my head. He had an incredible experience and I’m glad he was able to remember it so well. Thanks 
P.S. I would have NEVER  guessed what was revealed in the drawer by her bed.

I hadn't read the Robertson excerpt in years, until I just re-discovered and re-posted it on BOE. Yes, definitely interesting to see how Joan interacted with co-stars in general. But... I was also kind of annoyed by Robertson. He was a grown man in his 30s but, at least in his autobio, he was acting like a teenaged kid! I guess since he said that Joan had been his childhood sex idol, his behavior was kind of understandable... But I was also annoyed by his snarky account of Joan conducting business by the pool when he arrived; the woman was busy and had stuff to get done! And, lastly---Sorry, SPOILER ALERT if you haven't read it by now!---NO WOMAN KEEPS A DOUCHE-BAG in a cupboard above her bed. It's a toiletry item kept in the bathroom. Was it actually a dildo he spotted?? Sigh. He just seemed kind of Pollyanna-ish and uptight. (For instance, I don't know a hetero male that would NOT want to sleep with their childhood idol just for the hell of it, however middle-aged she might have become---just to say he had.)
